UNESCO Trandisciplinary Chair 2025-2029 Programme
2025-2029 Programme
The 2025 – 2029 program of the UNESCO Transdisciplinary Chair in Human Development and Culture of Peace is in continuity with the principles that have characterized its history, since its establishment in 2006, enhancing the valuable experience accumulated over the years thanks to careful coordination and strengthening of a network of internal and external resources.
In line with the “Beauty of TD research” requirements established by Morin and Nicolescu, the program for the next four years also sees a handover in the appointment of new Chair and new Team.
The renewal intends to enhance the maturity achieved implementing transdisciplinary and strengthens the skills and solidity in terms of organizational and institutional apparatus, intersubjective relationships, roles and functions and transdisciplinary knowledge intertwining.
The Chair purpose for the next four year is to consolidate an integrated system of transdisciplinary research, training, dissemination and documentation on matters related to sustainable human development with a specific focus on the key role of human and social capitals.
The Chair will reinforce the teaching staff of the University of Florence and collaboration between high-level, internationally-recognized researchers and other institutions in Italy, as well as elsewhere in Europe, Asia and Africa and other regions of the world.
The transdisciplinary perspective, connected to challenges of complexity and sustainability, represents the pillar on which the Chair, implementing researches, pursues four specific objectives to support:
-
innovative epistemologies on human development and lifelong and lifewide learning;
-
strategies for a "renaissance" of adult and continuing education in the framework of lifelong and lifewide learning;
-
people centered policies;
-
integrated policies for sustainable local development.
These objectives will be pursued through education/training activities, research projects, development cooperation actions, communication/dissemination plans. They will be implemented through a close cooperation with UNESCO on relevant programs and activities, other UNESCO Chairs and UNITWIN Networks, as well as with other higher education institutes, research centers and networks, International NgO, international associations, visiting professorships, academic exchanges, student mobility.
